Three generations of pool building excellence
Designer Pools by Garry Bair, LLC is a family-owned swimming pool construction company serving the Kansas City area. Our roots in the pool industry go back more than 50 years and span three generations of craftsmanship.
The story began in the 1970s when Floyd Bair helped introduce shotcrete construction techniques to the Kansas City region. Floyd passed the trade to his son, Garry Bair, who built his reputation through years of hands-on work as a subcontractor and industry innovator. Garry also designed the Minitower MT-20 manhole sprayer, a tool used in specialized concrete applications.
In 2004, Garry founded Designer Pools with a simple mission: build swimming pools the right way, with careful attention to detail and a commitment to long-lasting construction.
After Garry's unexpected passing in December 2023, his son Derek Bair stepped into the role of Managing Partner in January 2024. As a third-generation pool builder, Derek brings more than 20 years of experience in the swimming pool industry. He learned the craft directly from Garry, who passed down not only technical knowledge but also the core principles that guide our company: hard work, honesty, and integrity.
Working alongside Derek is Colin Barker, Managing Partner and Project Manager. Colin spent the past decade working closely with Garry and Derek on projects throughout the Kansas City area. He now oversees day-to-day field operations and ensures every pool is built with the same standards of quality and craftsmanship that Garry established.
